It's a free tool for finding the quiet places near you — the bench with a good view, the corner of the park nobody walks through, the spot by the water where it's actually calm. It runs in your browser, so there's nothing to download.

Go through the spots near you one photo at a time. Keep the ones you like, skip the ones you don't — there are buttons for both, and you can swipe if you'd rather. When you find one worth going to, get directions and go take your break.

There's no sign-up, no profile, no feed, no followers, no notifications.

Email connect@takeabreakamerica.com and a person will read it. If something isn't working, it helps to say which browser and phone you're using and what you were doing when it went wrong.

Every submission is reviewed before it goes live. If you still find a spot that is inappropriate, unsafe, on private property, or shows someone who didn't agree to be photographed, open that spot and use Report a problem with this spot. We'll review it.

Because there are no accounts, there's no list of your own submissions to open. Email connect@takeabreakamerica.com with the spot's name and we'll take it down.

It covers Montgomery County, Maryland — Bethesda, Rockville, Kensington, Silver Spring, Wheaton, Chevy Chase, Takoma Park and everywhere between. You can browse from anywhere, but you can only add a spot from inside the county.

Why can't I add a spot from home? Submissions are location-verified — you can only add a spot while you're physically standing at it. That's what keeps the spots real.

I added a spot and don't see it. Every submission is reviewed before it goes live, so give it a little time.

There are no spots near me. Coverage is Montgomery County, Maryland. If you're outside that, there won't be anything close by yet.

Do I have to share my location? No. Without it you'll still see every spot, ordered by rating instead of distance. You do need it to add a spot.

Where did my kept list go? It's saved in the browser you used, so it won't appear on a different phone or browser, and clearing your site data erases it.

There are no accounts and no ads, and we add no analytics or tracking of our own. The full privacy policy explains exactly what is collected, including the parts handled by Shopify and by the map's tile provider.
