How we build
One product at a time
Right now, that's a single app. Nothing is announced before it's real, and nothing ships half-finished.
Calm by default
No dark patterns, no manufactured urgency, no invented numbers. If a feature needs a trick to look good, it doesn't ship.
Honest about where things stand
The tool is live and free, there's no crowd using it yet, and there's no team beyond one person. That's the truth today, and this site says so plainly.
Who's building it
For now, it's just me.
Take A Break America comes from something I noticed in every job and endeavor I've participated in: people rarely run out of ability; they usually run out of good conditions. A well-taken break is the cheapest good condition there is, and almost nobody takes them well.
I worked with five real estate and insurance firms and ran studies on burnout among their employees. The same thing came up every time. The people struggling were not short on ability or effort — they were short on recovery, and most of them had nowhere to actually go when they needed a few minutes.
So I'm starting there: a tool for finding the quiet places near you, and research anyone can read. It's a company of one today. That won't stay true forever, but I'd rather say it plainly than pretend otherwise.
